They're Eating Me Alive

Quite literally. The mosquitoes I mean. And those buzzing noises they make keep me awake all night. I just had to do something about it and when I heard about this natural homemade mosquito repellent I gave it a try.

What is it?
It's just a lemon with some cloves stabbed into it. This combination of smells is supposed to be really unpleasant to mosquitoes and should keep them away.

Does it work?
The key word here is "should" but unfortunately it doesn't. I've had this for a couple of weeks now and tried putting it next to my bedroom window as well as next to my bed but still no effect. As far as I'm concerned this was a waste of a perfectly good lemon.

Can anybody recommend me something that actually keeps mosquitoes away?

  1. Hello there! ;) Where are you from? Do you have access to essential oils? If you do, try some lemongrass essential oil, (citronelle in called in French). It can also be combined with cinnamon, eucalyptus and mint essential oils. But these are expensive... Maybe there are formulas already mede in the pharmacy/ drugstores.
Or maybe there are candles with lemongrass essential oil...
