They're Eating Me Alive

Quite literally. The mosquitoes I mean. And those buzzing noises they make keep me awake all night. I just had to do something about it and when I heard about this natural homemade mosquito repellent I gave it a try.

What is it?
It's just a lemon with some cloves stabbed into it. This combination of smells is supposed to be really unpleasant to mosquitoes and should keep them away.

Does it work?
The key word here is "should" but unfortunately it doesn't. I've had this for a couple of weeks now and tried putting it next to my bedroom window as well as next to my bed but still no effect. As far as I'm concerned this was a waste of a perfectly good lemon.

Can anybody recommend me something that actually keeps mosquitoes away?

Catrice - Let's Mauve On! (old version)

Why do they keep doing this? Replacing the existing shades with new ones but still keeping the old names, like it's so hard to come up with new names or at least put a different number next to it. I did a little research before writing this post and found out that the shade of Let's Mauve On!'s been changed. I seems to me that the new version is darker, has a more metallic finish to it and according to fellow bloggers it's application is a bit trickier so I'm sticking with my old version. :)

The application didn't give me any problems. I used 2 coats and the visible nail line is still there. It would probably take three to four thin coats to cover it up completely.

I apologize for the pictures not being the best quality but just to let you know I really do try to make them as good as I can. I'm still learning. :)

EOTD: Neutral

What do I do when I'm home alone with nothing to do? I put some make up on and something like this comes out ...

This look is something along the lines of how I usually do my eye make up. I tend to use browns and more neutral color as I'm not at all used to wearing heavy multi-colored make up. I think I should make it a personal challenge for the future to find out which of the more vivid colors suit me. I'm sure they're out there, I just have to find them.

All the make up products used to create this look were from Essence and are featured in the picture bellow. Unfortunately some of them are no longer available to purchase.

Oh, and before I forget a thank you to may first three followers for making the begining of my blogging journey a bit less lonely. :)

Happy Birthday!

The day has come. I just can't believe that after all those afternoons spent reading other people's blogs I've finally started writing one myself.

One of my best friends just had a birthday a couple of days ago and his is a part of what she got ...

s-he 020

I got her an eye shadow and made her a matching ring, both in the color of her favourite nail polish.

The eye shadow appeared very pigmented when I tried tester, though not all of the shades of this brand seemed equally good. The ring is handmade from polyacrylic clay.
